Achilles Tendon (Diseased): Achilles Tendon Diseased Overlay This is a long and short axis view on BB mode. The long axis shows a lack of cylindrical shape of the tendon, consistent with disease. In addition, at the level of the fusiform area, the tendon has a hypoechoic area, which is the result of disruption and increased distance between the fibers. On the short axis heterogeneity is apparent within the tendon.
